Hors Classe "Tournant de Pouilly"

Location

Situated in the northern part of Fuissé on the borders of the hamlet of Pouilly, the east-facing Tournant de Pouilly vineyard covers a hectare of gentle slope.

Vineyards' age

The median age of the vines is 50 years.

Soil

The soil, which is derived from the light marls of the Dogger, consists of deep, limestone-rich silt and clay containing few stones from the Dogger bank.

Tasting

While the nose is initially subtle, it opens up to display a rich palette of aromas that range from toasted almonds to lime blossom, while notes of beeswax become apparent as the wine ages. The palate is voluptuously rich, although precisely balanced by a streak of minerality that leaves an overall impression of purity. The finish is particularly long and intense. This wine ages well for a minimum of 10 to 15 years.

Wine and food pairing

Spiced scallops with noodles, turbot with hollandaise sauce, John Dory with Szechuan pepper, chicken with morels, aged Comté.

The vintage

Pure and fine-boned, these wines display great minerality. Still somewhat closed, these wines deserve to be allowed to develop their full potential.
